
A former software sales account executive at Quick Base, Joseph Vessecchia is pursuing an MBA from the University of Rochester with the goal of transitioning to a career in the finance sector. In his youth, Joseph Vessecchia was a USTA ball boy at four consecutive US Open tournaments.
The US Open is one of four major tournaments that comprise the Grand Slams of tennis. It was established in 1881 and has been played at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center since 1978. Below are the three most recent male winners of the tournament:
1. Rafael Nadal (2019) – Nadal won his 19th Grand Slam at the 2019 US Open by defeating Russian Daniil Medvedev in a memorable five-set final match. Nadal also won the US Open in 2017, 2013, and 2010.
2. Novak Djokovic (2018) – Djokovic won his third US Open and 14th Grand Slam in 2018 as he defeated Juan del Potro of Argentina in the final. The tournament marked the 50th anniversary of the US Open in New York and featured the opening of the Louis Armstrong Stadium.
3. Rafael Nadal (2017) – The Spaniard captured his third US Open title in 2017 with relative ease by a victory over Kevin Anderson in the final. Nadal’s rival Roger Federer was defeated in the quarter-finals by del Potro, while past champions Djokovic and Andy Murray were sidelined due to injury.
